Sizing & Fit
Will this garment fit me?
We carry both “one size fits most” pieces and styles with specific sizing. One size pieces fit comfortably from women’s XS to L, or men’s S to XL. Every product page lists exact measurements in cm and inches, so check those for the right fit. Still unsure? Email hello@ajjaya.com with your bust, waist, hip and height and we’ll help you choose.
True to size or oversized?
Most of our pieces are intentionally relaxed and flowing. If you prefer a closer fit, size down. The cm and inches measurements on each product page are your best guide.
The fabric feels stiff at first. Is that normal?
Yes. Our fibres aren’t softened with chemicals, so they can feel a bit firm out of the bag. They relax after the first hand wash and keep getting better with wear.
Do they shrink?
A little on the first wash, around 2 to 5 percent. Cold water and air drying flat keeps it minimal.
Materials & Dyes
What does “plant-based dye” actually mean?
Our colours come from plants and earth. Indigo, madder, pomegranate, walnut, iron-rich clay. No synthetic chemicals, no heavy metals.
Are your fabrics safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. Natural fibres, no synthetic dyes, no chemical finishes. A lot of our customers come to us specifically for this.
Are your garments vegan?
Most are. Cotton, hemp, and linen. A few pieces include wool, and materials are always listed on the product page.
Why does my piece have slight colour variations?
Every piece is hand dyed in small batches, so subtle differences in tone are normal. They’re the signature of natural dyeing.
Will the colour fade?
Plant dyes soften gently over years of wear, which is part of the charm. Cold hand-wash, shade-dry, and no bleach will keep them rich for longer.
Why are your products relatively expensive?
Everything is handmade. We pay fair wages across the production process, choose natural fabrics and plant-based dyes that cost more, use compostable packaging, and cover the shipping ourselves.
Care & Longevity
May I safely wash and dry your products?
Because our garments are handmade and naturally dyed, hand washing is best for longevity. Place your garment in cold water for 30 minutes, then gently rinse. Machine washing is fine too, just use the delicate or gentle setting, cold water, and no bleach. Air dry in the shade and minimise direct sunlight.
Can I tumble dry?
We don’t recommend it. Heat shrinks natural fibres and dulls plant dyes. Air drying flat or in the shade is best.
What if my garment gets a stain?
Spot clean quickly with cold water and a mild natural soap. For tougher stains, soak in cold water with baking soda. Never bleach.
How do I store pieces between seasons?
Clean, dry, folded in a breathable cotton bag or drawer. Avoid plastic. Cedar or lavender keeps moths away naturally.
How long should an AJJAYA piece last?
Cared for gently, many years. Plenty of customers are still wearing pieces from five plus years ago.

Do you ship worldwide?
Yes, with free shipping on every order.
Can I track my order?
You’ll get a tracking link by email once your order ships. If you don’t see it, check your spam folder, or email hello@ajjaya.com.
Will I have to pay customs or duties?
Possibly, depending on your country. These are set by local governments and we don’t control them. Most customers don’t run into issues.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Email hello@ajjaya.com as soon as you can. We process orders within 24 hours and will do our best to help before it ships.
Do you accept returns and exchanges?
We accept returns and exchanges on unworn, unwashed items in their original condition through our Redo Portal.A few timeframes to know:
- Please contact us within 14 days of delivery
- Please send items back within 30 days of delivery
- Cancellation requests need to come in before we dispatch. Once the carriers have your parcel, we have no way of reversing the sending process.
If you’re in the USA or Australia (More countries coming soon) and opted in to our delivery insurance at checkout (Checkout+), your return shipping is covered. Otherwise, buyers cover return postage. If an item isn’t returned in original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value. Full details are on our Shipping and Returns page.
What if my item arrives damaged?
